Wild Zebras Mental Health offers flexible, accessible counselling through secure telehealth and phone appointments across Australia — support designed to meet you exactly where you are.
Whether you're processing something recent, carrying experiences that have shaped you over many years, adjusting to a diagnosis, navigating grief or burnout, or working to understand yourself more clearly, your experience deserves care and attention. Appointments are built to ease unnecessary pressure: join from a familiar, private space, keep your camera off, move around, use sensory supports, or take the time you need to find your words — there's no expectation to sit still, maintain eye contact, or communicate in any one way.
Our approach is warm, relational and collaborative; we take the time to understand your experiences, preferences and needs, and you remain an active part of the conversation, with your boundaries, capacity and feedback guiding the process throughout. You don't have to work through everything alone — support can begin exactly where you are.

Every stripe is different — and so is every person who walks through our door.
Individual therapy at Wild Zebras is for anyone who wants to understand themselves a little better, work through what's been weighing on them, or simply find their way back to feeling like themselves again. You don't need a diagnosis or a crisis to justify asking for help; curiosity, and a quiet sense that something could feel different, is more than enough. We work with adolescents aged 13 and up, and adults of all ages, backgrounds, and life experiences. Whether you're navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, invisible illness, relationship patterns, or just a feeling that something's not quite right — we're here for all of it, no judgment, no rush.
Sessions run for 50 minutes and are held entirely online via secure video, so you can access support from wherever feels safe enough for you — anywhere in Australia.
The pace is yours. The focus is yours. We're here to walk alongside you.
Adolescence can be one of the most overwhelming and confusing seasons of life — and one of the most important times to have a safe space to make sense of it all.
At Wild Zebras, we work with adolescents aged 13 and up. We know that teens need something a little different — a space that feels safe enough to be honest, free from judgment, and completely their own. We understand the unique developmental needs of young people and bring that understanding into every session, meeting them exactly where they are.
We work with adolescents through a trauma-informed lens, weaving in creative and expressive practices that go beyond talk therapy — because sometimes words aren't enough, and that's okay. Whether through creative approaches, parts work, or simply having a space to be heard, we follow what feels right for each young person.
We are proudly LGBTIQI+ affirming and celebrate every young person exactly as they are. Every young person, whatever their identity, background, or experience, belongs here. There are no issues too big, too small, or too messy to explore together.

No two stripes are the same — and no two healing journeys look the same either.
At Wild Zebras, we don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Our practice is grounded in evidence-based modalities including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), Parts Work through Resource Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — but the way we work with you will always be shaped by you. Your story, your pace, your needs, and your input guides everything.
Your first session is simply a chance to meet, breathe, and begin.
We'll take time to get to know each other — your therapist will gently explore what's brought you here, a little of your history, and what you're hoping therapy might offer. You set the pace entirely. Nothing is rushed, and you won't ever be asked to share anything you're not ready for. It's also your opportunity to get a feel for whether Wild Zebras feels safe enough for you — because the right fit matters. A good therapeutic relationship is at the heart of everything we do, and we want you to leave your first session feeling seen, heard and validated.

Therapy moves at your pace, not ours. Sessions are typically weekly or fortnightly, but we work with whatever fits your life. Some people need a few sessions to find their footing. Others value longer-term support. Both are equally valued and welcomed here.
Your first session is a place to begin—not a test to pass
During your first appointment, Michelle will take time to understand what has brought you to therapy, any relevant history and what you hope may feel different with support.
You can share as much or as little as you are ready to share. There is no expectation that you tell your entire story in one session.
You are also encouraged to ask questions, discuss accessibility needs and consider whether the therapeutic relationship feels comfortable and suitable for you.
The right fit matters. Our goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, respected and clearer about what may happen next.

Therapy that moves at your pace
Appointments are often scheduled weekly or fortnightly, depending on your circumstances, goals and availability.
Some people seek focused support for a particular issue or transition. Others benefit from a longer-term therapeutic relationship. Neither approach is more valid than the other.
The frequency and direction of therapy can be reviewed together as your needs change.
Adolescence can be exciting, confusing, exhausting and overwhelming—sometimes all at once.
Wild Zebras works with young people aged 13 and over, providing a space that belongs to them and allows them to speak openly without judgement.
Our adolescent work is developmentally informed, trauma-informed, neuro-affirming and inclusive. Sessions may incorporate creative and expressive approaches, parts work and practical emotional-regulation strategies alongside conversation.
We are proudly LGBTQIA+ affirming and welcome young people of all identities, backgrounds and experiences.
There is no expectation that a young person must sit perfectly still, maintain eye contact or know exactly what to say. Sometimes words are difficult, and that is okay.
Where a parent or caregiver is involved, confidentiality and its boundaries will be discussed clearly so the young person understands what remains private and when information may need to be shared for safety or legal reasons.

No two people experience the world in the same way, and no two therapeutic journeys should be expected to follow the same path.
Our work may draw on a range of evidence-based and relational approaches, including:
● EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing
● Resource Therapy and parts work
● Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
● Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
● Trauma-informed and attachment-informed practice
● Neuro-affirming therapeutic support
● Creative and expressive approaches
These approaches provide structure, but they are never treated as rigid formulas.
Therapy at Wild Zebras is shaped around the person in front of us. Your experiences, preferences, communication style, capacity, goals and feedback all help guide the way we work together.
Some approaches may feel helpful straight away. Others may need to be introduced slowly, adapted or set aside. There is no pressure to engage in a particular technique simply because it is available.
You will be included in decisions about the direction, pace and focus of your support. We will take time to notice what feels useful, what feels difficult and what may need to change along the way.
The aim is not to fit you into a framework. It is to draw from the right tools, at the right time, in a way that feels safe, considered and genuinely supportive.
Michelle offers limited clinical supervision appointments for social workers seeking a reflective, supportive and professionally grounded space.
She has a particular interest in supporting new graduates as they develop confidence, navigate complex practice environments and establish their professional identity.
Supervision may explore:
● Complex case reflection
● Trauma-informed and neuro-affirming practice
● Ethical decision-making
● Professional boundaries
● Practitioner wellbeing
● Working in statutory or high-risk settings
● Building confidence as an early-career social worker
